Big Chips Awards Opening
The Neighbourhood
Role: Motion Designer, Editor and Audio.
Client: Big Chip Awards
Production Company: The Neighbourhood
Back in 2014, we were contacted by the Big Chip Awards and asked if we wanted to produce the opening titles and theme for that years award ceremony. There was no budget for this so myself, Michelle Collier, Chris Moran and Dave Wharton took this upon ourselves to try some techniques and create something cool. We came up with the idea of “Big Chip Moves” to try and get award winners to add a dash of excitement to their winners speeches by showing us their moves! We had 10 days to come up with the: concept, design, script and produce the opening sequence as well as the physical branding for the event itself. We wanted to create more frame-by-frame / flash animation in the studio so we used this as an opportunity to show what we could do in a short space of time.
This was all created in our own time and as well as animate some of the scenes, I also edited and created the audio pass myself. It was a lot of fun to work on and a great way to learn some new skills. But the biggest win for us was after the awards… We showed this to potential clients and it definitely helped us win more work as well as show an alternative style. I’m proud of what we achieved in the time and I think taking on something like this really helped build our team as well as develop our skillset.
