This is by far the most in depth piece of work I’ve worked on whilst being at EA. I worked with the very talented Alex Elms to come up the concept for this piece which was to encapsulate a full year of football. The highs, the lows and some huge transfers. Our very talented marketing and brand team managed to strike a deal allowing us to show the new PSG Champions League kit in our asset. And as we were releasing our video on the same day as their kit announce, we got a huge boost in views from that!

As well as the longform video made a templated asset that would be easily interchangeable so we can make versions to go out on partner club channels to extend our videos reach a cater for all of their needs. Here’s video showing a few different versions we produced that they could put out on their various channels but still directed you back towards our product:

Along with these edits, we produced versions for featured players in the video so they could share it on their own channels. This one for example, is one I produced to go on Ronaldo’s personal instagram account and to date has the most views of any of the assets we created for this beat.

All captures we taken in game using actual gameplay. We had no cinematic shots in our edit as we really wanted to show the game off in it’s truest form. I think we managed to just this. With many fans of the franchise reacting positively to the trailer it rapidly became the most successful trailer of the campaign. There is a huge shift (especially in sports games) to show exactly what the game looks and plays like and this is why we wanted to produce the trailer in which we did. All in game captures came from our very talented in-house team: Samuel Goncalves, Victor Fischer and Lukas Ramer and wouldn’t have been possible without them. The Fifa 19 linelook was designed by the in-house design team and animated by Troika.
